Distributed Scalable AccessNet Rugged AccessPoint (DRAP)

The Distributed Scalable AccessNet Rugged AccessPoint (DRAP) is a ruggedized Voice Over IP (VOIP) communication access point. Using headphones and the integrated microphone, users can speak with other users over an Ethernet network. Multiple DRAPs can be quickly deployed to create an ad hoc VOIP communication network in tactical environments. Other information like text messages can be sent between each DRAP.

The DRAP features an Intel® Pentium™ M processor operating at 1GHz, up to 1GB of RAM, and various combinations of compact flash and Solid State Drive (SSD) storage. It runs Microsoft® Windows™ XP, XP Embedded, or LINUX. It is equipped with a bright 6.4” transflective LCD and resistive touchscreen. This allows easy configuration of VOIP applications as well as easy interaction with the operating system.

The DRAP features dual audio channels configurable for headset or handset use and also features a sealed internal speaker driven by a 6W digital amplifier that enables incoming calls and announcements to be heard even in high background noise level environments.

The DRAP is fully ruggedized to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 specifications. It operates over a wide temperature range and is resistant to vibration, salt fog, blowing rain, and EMI. A non-ruggedized commercial specification version is also available for environments that do not require full ruggedization.
