Mobile Soldier System

The Mobile Soldier System is a ruggedized, modular system which was specifically designed to meet the needs of the modern warfighter. This modular system features a lightweight CPU module, a 6.4" display, and an external battery. It is fully ruggedized and features a low-powered Intel® Atom™ processor.

Ruggedized, Lightweight Design: The Mobile Soldier System is designed to be worn by a soldier and operated in with minimal hindrance to the soldier's range of motion. The lightweight design of the Mobile Soldier System allows the soldier to move unrestricted on the battlefield. The warfighter can freely place each component anywhere on his person without being tied to a specific configuration. It is ruggedized to meet the demands for tactical military use and features a low-power CPU for extended battery life.

System Modularity: The Mobile Soldier System uses the versatile Glenair Mighty Mouse connector. This allows for maximum compatibility between components. The Mobile Soldier System is designed to be Ground Soldier System (GSS) compatible. For example, if a component is damaged it can be quickly replaced without significant system downtime. Accessories can also be added to the Mobile
Soldier System, including: Headsets, USB to VGA Displays, HMMWV Adapters, and an external docking station can be connected to allow adding an external monitor, mouse and keyboard increasing its flexibility.

Low-powered, High-Performance CPU Module: The CPU module uses a low-powered Intel® Atom™ processor with the ideal balance between performance and battery life. Coupled with 2GB of RAM and a high speed SSD, the CPU module is both rugged and fast enough to run the state-of-the-art tactical applications. Battery life for the CPU module (depending on the attached accessories) is rated at nominally 5 hrs with a standard LI-80 battery.

Bright, Mobile Display: The 6.4" display is designed to provide the soldier with situational information in any conditions. It features a sunlight readable LED backlight LCD display with a 640 x 480 resolution. Larger 8.4" and 10.4" external displays are also available.

The Mobile Soldier System is also the platform used for the Lynx II Translator. The Lynx II Translator is a revolutionary speech-to-speech translation device that translates regular spoken English into Iraqi Arabic and Iraqi Arabic to English.
