Santa Ana, CA (August, 28, 2015) – Secure Communication Systems Inc. and operating division Tactical Micro Inc. are pleased to announce that Tactical Micro has been awarded a contract for the procurement and installation of a new Mobile Closed Circuit Television (Mobile CCTV) security system with the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Portland, Oregon (TriMet).

Tactical Micro has teamed with Milestone Systems, the globally leading open platform company in IP video management software (VMS), and Axis Communications, the global leader in network video surveillance, to provide a state-of-the-art solution that records, transmits wirelessly and tracks security video through the complete TriMet operating system. Tactical Micro has also partnered with Oregon-based Reece Complete Security Solutions to provide installation, integration and support services. This system gives real-time control providing outstanding service and safety to the citizens of Portland using the TriMet transportation system.

Milestone IP video software is based on open platform architecture for reliable and scalable monitoring solutions that also enable future expansions through integrations with new technologies that become available over time. Milestone has worked with Tactical Micro on previous contracts for military Simulation and Training programs, so it seemed a natural fit for the two companies to work together to explore opportunities in transit security.

Milestone XProtect Playback Interface with Evidence Lock

“Milestone is ecstatic to be part of another project with Tactical Micro for mobile CCTV. As that market matures and starts to embrace the IP platform, our open architecture allows them to utilize the widest choice of cost-effective and powerful off-the-shelf hardware, network cameras like Axis, and other software integrations. This freedom of choice gets them out of the analog ‘proprietary jail’, opening a new world of technological possibilities. With Milestone XProtect Corporate and Milestone Interconnect, they no longer have to pull hard drives for evidence in investigations, and they can share live video for situational awareness – even over limited bandwidth,” said David King, Senior Key Account Manager, Milestone Systems.

Axis Communications works with several suppliers of security type products and has the right solutions of ruggedness, viewing angles, resolution, and audio to meet the needs of the Tactical Micro/Milestone software and hardware. “The shift from analog to IP video continues and is now really taking hold in the onboard environment as seen in monumental projects like TriMet,” said Anthony Incorvati, business development manager for transportation, Axis Communications, Inc. “Axis not only invented the IP camera, but was also the first to develop a commercial-off-the-shelf IP camera purpose built for mobile use on buses and trains. Paired with specialized companies like Tactical Micro, we can better meet market demand for mobile IP video.”

Axis cameras were selected because of their versatility, resolution, viewing range and integrated sound

Reece Complete Security Solutions is a local supplier in the greater Portland area. Reece rounds out the outstanding team and provides the local capability that the TriMet system needed.

The base contract will cover 214 TriMet buses currently utilizing legacy analog cameras and software systems. The new Mobile CCTV video monitoring system will utilize the most current wireless network cameras and a single, streamlined software platform. Future contract options will expand the new mobile CCTV system onto 194 additional buses and 105 light rail vehicles.

This will be Tactical Micro’s second public transit Mobile CCTV contract award. “Tactical Micro is quickly becoming a trusted name in innovative, real-time public transit mobile security systems,” added Robert Korb, President of Tactical Micro, Inc. “We look forward to working with TriMet and our partners while continuing to serve the expanding needs for real-time security systems within the public transit sector.”
