Lynx Handheld Translator Running SRI International
IraqComm Speech Translation Software
The Secure Communication Systems Lynx Translator is a ruggedized, handheld high end laptop class computer system that has been specifically designed to support enhance the performance of Two Way Speech to Speech (2WSTS) Translation software from companies such as SRI International, BBN, IBM, and others under real world conditions in the field.
Key features of the Lynx are:
• Integrated Far Field Array Microphone: Accurately and reliably picks up voices at distances of up to 5-6ft+ even in high background noise environments. This far field ability greatly enhances the practical utility of the system as it eliminates the need for an external microphone and provides a unique safety standoff range operational capability.
• Built-in Powerful, Flat Panel Loudspeaker: Driven by a high power 6 watt amplifier this allows the speech translation to be heard under most conditions, even in noisy, outdoor environments with no external speakers or cables.

The Secure Lynx Translator is based on the embedded processing ETX standard and can be ordered with various processors/memory configurations depending on the requirements. Dual mouse and track point buttons are provided enabling true left or right handed operation.
The Lynx Translator is equipped with a state-of-the-art 32 or 64 GB solid state disk for enhanced ruggedness, performance, and low power use. The system also provides our proprietary SecureDisk©, hardware encryption and can be zeroized in less than 30msec.
The Lynx Translator is equipped with dual hot swappable batteries capable of providing 4+ hours of continual speech translation use or between 6-8 hours of normal Microsoft Windows® application use.
The Lynx Translator is constructed using a lightweight magnesium alloy chassis. The speaker and microphone array fold down providing a protective cover for the screen. The Lynx is fully ruggedized and designed to meet MIL-STD 810F environmental requirements.
